Communities

Social Studies

After reviewing communities in our Social Studies textbooks, students will make a "haunted community" just in time for Halloween.  They may name the community, one idea - "Haunted Hallow"

Collect various sized boxes from students and wrap with white bulletin board paper.  Assign two students per box.  Brainstorm Halloween characters and what business they may have in Haunted Hallow.  For example, a mummy may have a clothing store, Dracula may have a Blood Bank, a witch or warlock may have a restaurant.  Encourage students to write a small ad for their business to place in a Chamber of Commerce booklet.  Make sure to have a mayor for your town.  Listed below are some examples of characters and businesses.
